Furnishing a bathroom is quite an expensive exercise. At the same time, a significant part of the costs is borne by the payment for the work. Therefore, the bathroom, finished with its own hands, will allow not only to reduce repair costs, but also to bring individuality and uniqueness to the interior. But the performance of the whole range of works on the installation of a bathroom requires certain knowledge and skills not only in plumbing, but also in finishing works. Therefore, it may be necessary to attract specialists to a particular type of activity.

Design and calculations
Before proceeding with the arrangement of the bathroom, it is necessary to execute the project or draw the furniture to be installed inside, the points of fixing the mirrors and sockets. The location of the plumbing equipment in the drawing is indicated taking into account their actual size. This will allow you to determine visually how convenient and comfortable is the movement inside the room, because the bathroom is usually small in size. In addition, the project should indicate the location of the pipes of engineering utilities, water supply and sewerage. This must be done without fail, especially if it is planned to move existing elements, for example, sinks, baths or installation of new equipment, for example, a shower.

In addition, when designing, it is necessary to provide the correct arrangement of ventilation. Due to this in this room will not be observed dampness, to collect harmful microorganisms, fungi and bacteria that do not have a beneficial effect on human health, causing various kinds of allergic reactions.
After the locations of the communication lines are indicated on the bathroom plan, calculations of consumables are performed, which will be required for self-installation of the room. When calculating the required quantity and assortment of building materials, it is necessary to take into account the requirements that are imposed on the final form of this room. For example, the installation of a warm floor can slightly increase the cost of finishing the bathroom, but in the future it will be comfortable and convenient to use the bathroom.
The main materials that can be required for a bathroom are:
- Pipes made of metal and plastic. Different diameters may be required for both laying water pipes and replacing existing sewerage structures.
- Fittings, cranes and other fittings that ensure correct and full functioning of engineering communications.
- Ceramic tiles, which can be laid on both the walls and the floor.
- Glue mixtures used for laying tiles. When choosing them, you must take into account the increased humidity in the room.
- Plastic panels that can be used as a ceiling cover. They can be mounted on a frame, with which you can remove defects in the ceiling, and also install additional lighting.
- Lamps for lighting, which are moisture resistant.
- Mixtures for leveling walls and floors.

For the implementation of all works that are envisaged by the project, the following tools may be required:
- A drill or a perforator with nozzles that will allow the mixture to be plastered for plastering, cut through the shroud for laying the wiring and remove the existing coatings.
- Bulgarian, used for cutting metal pipes, which may have been laid earlier.
- Spatulas of different width, with which you can evenly distribute the solution when performing work on plastering and leveling the floor.
- Plumbing keys for connecting cranes and other equipment.
- A special tool that allows you to cut the tile.
- The screwdriver is electric or rechargeable.
The order of implementation
Before you equip the bathroom with your own hands, you should determine the order of work. Rational planning and distribution of funds and forces will reduce the time for the implementation of arrangements for the arrangement of the premises.
Layout of tiling in the bathroom.
Works are conducted in the following order:
- design and calculation, acquisition of all necessary materials;
- preparation of premises for works;
- work with the floor: waterproofing measures, leveling, warming;
- installation of pipelines and electrical wiring;
- laying of the final flooring;
- finishing works of walls, ceiling;
- installation of ventilation;
- installation of plumbing equipment.
When choosing consumables, it is necessary to take into account the features of the room, for example, from what material the walls are made. The number of building materials to be purchased is affected by the previous state of the plumbing equipment, the condition of the pipes, the wiring, the degree of damage and evenness of the walls and floor. If the room has sufficiently smooth walls, which do not require additional leveling, and gluing the tile can smooth out existing defects, then work can be excluded from bringing the walls into a level state.
The bathroom is being converted from the fact that old equipment and pipes are being dismantled. They may not be suitable for further use due to clogging or the presence of significant damage due to corrosion.
The scheme of finishing the ceiling with plastic panels.
If the dismantled equipment, such as a bath, is in such a condition that it can last for a long time, then its reuse will save money. If the old bath is made of cast iron and covered with enamel, which is slightly damaged, it can be restored and installed subsequently in its place, since the raw material from which it is made (cast iron) has a very long service life and high strength.
After the water is turned off, it is possible to start dismantling the water supply pipes. If they were metal, then they are cut with the help of a Bulgarian. If previously metal-plastic ones were installed, they can be removed using a special tool, releasing them from the fasteners. Remains of pipes that remain after the dismantling of the main highways, it is necessary to cover with a film and fix it with scotch tape. Such a procedure will protect the water supply and sewerage from getting into them a large amount of garbage during further construction work.
After that, proceed to clean the walls and floor from the previous coating. It must be removed carefully so as not to damage the wiring, if it is laid, or the elements of the warm floor, if it was previously mounted. The sweep should begin from the ceiling. At the same time, it is necessary to comply with safety regulations and work in safety glasses, a respirator. The tile is removed using a drill or perforator, using the appropriate nozzle. The paint is removed using a drill on which a metal round brush is fixed. It allows you to remove the colored layer quickly enough. Exfoliate plaster, if any, is removed using spatulas. It should be borne in mind that all the previously applied finishing layers (plaster, paint, tiles) must be removed to the main building material of the house (concrete, brick).
After all the room is cleaned, with the help of a level it is necessary to check the evenness of the walls and to conclude that they need to be leveled.
Inspection of the floor will determine what to use as a rough floor and whether there is a need for it.
If the cleaned floor is flat enough, without special defects, then it is not necessary to produce a screed. You can use the floor, which will hide all minor flaws and even its surface.
After it has solidified, you can proceed to the waterproofing of the floor. To do this, you need to use a special film that will provide waterproofing.
- Laying of communications.
Scheme of bath installation.
Pipes can be stacked in special shtroby, which are done with a perforator in the wall. But not in all rooms it can be done. Therefore, all engineering communications are laid along the bottom of the floor, covering them with a slope. Such a solution will allow you to have access to them later if repair is necessary and will hide the pipes. The slope can be finished with the same material as the walls or the floor.
Laying of wiring is carried out in special boxes, which are designed to use them for high humidity in the room. The ends, which will later be fixed fixtures and sockets, should be isolated.
- Work with the ceiling.
Warming the ceiling in the bathroom will reduce the formation of condensation and its accumulation inside the room. As a thermal insulation material, glass-magnesium sheets can be used, which include vapor and waterproofing layers. You can fix them with glue.
Next, you can proceed to the roof paneling. For this you can use laminate panels, plastic lining. These materials are resistant to moisture, easily laid and serve for a long time. They can be fastened with a special adhesive and self-tapping screws.
- Floor and wall decoration.
For these purposes, ceramic tiles are most often used. It is placed on the walls and on the floor, while using the appropriate adhesive compositions. Glue distribute with a spatula, and between the tiles are installed special crosses, with the help of which even joints can be formed.
After the glue dries, the seams between the tiles are covered with a special compound, which serves as an additional waterproofing.
After all the finishing work is completed, you can proceed with the installation of sanitary equipment. It is installed in the appropriate places and connected to the water supply and sewerage systems by means of keys, according to the attached instructions.
