At the moment, buying any plumbing accessories has ceased to be a problem. The choice of different shells, toilet bowls and bathtubs is so wide that just the eyes scatter from abundance. Products can be selected for almost any taste. Preference in recent years is given to shells with a special stand (pedestal). This is the best choice for both price and quality. But among other things, you need to know how to install the sink correctly.
The sink in the bathroom is necessary for convenience, moreover, it can become an integral part of the interior.
The pedestal makes the sink-tulip adornment of the bathroom: it conceals from view all the supply pipes, taps and connection to the sewer. It looks like this shell is self-contained and exquisite. It got its name from the form: the conch shell on the pedestal resembles a flower on a stalk. This product has only one small drawback - a fixed height. The pedestal does not allow to regulate the arrangement of the shell in height and creates certain difficulties in the installation. To avoid problems when installing such a shell, let's consider the basic rules of its installation by yourself.
Selecting a size
Tools for mounting the sink.
Before buying and installing the tulip shell, make a preliminary measurement of the location of the future installation. The tulip shell should be comfortable for all family members, so first calculate the optimal level. On sale there are sinks with different pedestal heights, so you must decide in advance with the parameters.
Before installing the sink, stock up the necessary inventory. You will need:
- perforator (it is also needed for car washes);
- building level;
Tulip the sink to the wall where it will be, and mark on the wall its upper level. Now the pedestal can be removed and, peering under the sink, see the holes for fastening. Make a mark on the wall in these places. The construction itself should be laid aside and drilled in the wall with holes of the required diameter. They must match the diameter of the dowels.
Do not drill both holes at once. First, do the first, and then check by level if the second mark is at the same level with the first hole. The shell-tulip should be placed strictly horizontally, so try to do everything as accurately as possible.
Mounting the mixer
Size table of shells.
In the holes we insert spacers from the dowels and begin to mount the siphon and mixer. They are collected directly on the sink. The mixer is assembled in accordance with the attached instructions. Connect the hot and cold water hoses to the mixer. All hose connections with the mixer must be sealed, so we seal them with special sealant or FUM tape. When installing, do not seek to exert great effort, because because of this, the tulip can burst.
It is especially necessary to install a drainage pipe. All the time you need to keep under control the position of the O-ring. Even the slightest bias here is unacceptable. First, the ring is held by the fingers and the screw is wrapped up as much as possible. Then screwdriver it must be wrapped up to the stop.
The tulip can be considered to be almost assembled. It is now easy to fix on the wall. We put the sink to the wall and turn the dowels to the stop. On sale there are options with a special fastening system. If this is your case, then follow the instructions provided with the product.
Waterproofing and sealing
You immediately need to take care that the moisture does not fall between the wall and the edge of the shell adjacent to it. Use a special sealant or silicone.
And now you have to connect the hoses to the water supply system, connect the siphon pipe with the sewer hole and check the connection quality for leaks. The slightest drop of moisture indicates that the joints need to be sealed. Eliminate all the shortcomings. We can assume that the installation of the sink-tulip is successfully completed. It remains only to install the pedestal and the sink can be used.
There is a high probability that the pedestal stood under the sink, but there remained a noticeable gap between them. Most likely, before installing the tulip shell, you conducted a poor-quality markup.
It is not recommended to outweigh the sink.
First, there will be holes in the wall. And secondly, the load-bearing wall already has holes and repeated drilling will weaken the rigidity of the entire structure. It will be more appropriate to raise the pedestal slightly. Under it, you can put a rubber mat, and cut the projecting edges with a sharp knife.
The situation is much more complicated when the pedestal does not fit a little under the sink, and this situation can arise. There are two ways out: either weigh the sink, or make a small groove in the floor. The last do not recommend: after installing the pedestal to remove it again will be very difficult. And how then to remove clog or leak? It will be necessary to install the sink-tulip again to a different height. To prevent this from happening, at the very beginning of the installation of the sink, measure everything very carefully.
The sink tulip is never equipped with a siphon. You have to buy it separately. When buying a siphon for any washstand, it is not recommended to choose the products with corrugation. It is very convenient to connect the sink with the drains by means of the corrugation, especially since the nipples are ideally suited for communication holes, but this all the pros and cons. But there are many disadvantages of siphons with corrugation. Between the folds very quickly accumulates debris, so there is an unpleasant smell, the water from the shell starts to go slowly. This defect is eliminated by cleaning. Here, only to clean the corrugated pipe is long and unpleasant. Is it better to immediately get a siphon with a smooth branch pipe? And to install it is also not difficult: it is enough to make measurements and to cut off the excess of the branch pipe.
