How to level the wooden floor

Deciding to change the old withered boards on a tile or a laminate, by all means simultaneously carry out leveling of a wooden floor. There are several ways to do this. The most recognized are: cicling, apply leveling mixtures on wood, putty with PVA, installation of plywood.

Floor leveling from wood

The most common methods of straightening the floor are: looping, leveling mixtures on wood, putty with PVA, and also installation of plywood.

Cycling

The cycle machine in working condition produces a deafening noise. Because it makes sense to take care of the purchase of good headphones as a protection. The respirator will help to cope with respiratory organs with a strong dust.

Before you cycle the machine, the room should be prepared: cover the furniture with polyethylene, remove the curtains. If this is not done, then there is a possibility that the room environment will suffer significant damage due to the dispersal of fine wood dust, accompanying the procedure of barking a wooden floor.

Regarding the scraping unit, it is also important to provide some measures to help prevent its breakdown. The greatest harm to the blades of the unit is provided by nails and buttons of carpets. Before the start of work, it is necessary to remove the buttons and cut off the hammers into the wood.

The procedure starts to be carried out, slowly moving zigzaggedly from any corner of the room. Removing the contaminated layer from above, thoroughly zashpatlevyvayut all cracks and crevices.

After the curing of the putty and the complete polymerization (about eight hours), they proceed to further cycling. When there is a strong damage to the board, it is removed, turned the other side and put back.

Alignment on the border next to the skirting and in areas of difficult access lead through a corner manual cycleer. After completing the cycle, wait for a sludge of dust and everything is vacuumed. After thorough cleaning the surfaces go to the coating with varnish.

Before proceeding to varnish treatment, the floor is wiped with a lint-free material moistened with a solvent (white spirit).

When deciding to put a fresh cover on the floor, only cycling is an insufficient measure. Especially for the old and warped floor. Leveling mixtures are ideal for an ideal flat floor. Such mixtures are capable of creating an excellent evenness of a wooden surface with a layer thickness of 5-20 mm.

Mixes for wooden floors

The sequence of the procedure for leveling the floor from wood with the use of a mixture is as follows.

First, a wooden base is prepared for applying the mixture. Springboards are additionally attached to the logs with screws or screws. Screws of screws or nails are hidden in the boards.

The base is cleaned from the remaining paint / varnish and sanded.

Wide gaps between adjacent boards are eliminated by applying an acrylic filler or leveling compound, which is slightly thicker.

After the final drying of the putty, the surface is covered with a primer using a special moisture-resistant compound. By means of a primer, the required degree of adhesion of the mixture for leveling to a wooden base will be created.

Throughout the perimeter, the walls are insulated with an insulating material. The place of change from one coating to another is the deformation seam. It is closed, using a narrow strip of expanded polystyrene.

The water level is produced by marking the leveling floor, taking into account the minimum permissible layer thickness claimed by the manufacturer. In the doorway they put a wooden beam, which, with its height, shows the supposed level of the sexual surface.

Tip: for instantaneous leveling of the floor and raising its level to a significant amount, the fill is produced in 2 sets.

Mechanical coding

Mechanical bending is performed by a special machine.

To the primed surface, a reinforcing mesh is attached by a construction stapler, where the joints of the webs are made, having knitted about 5 cm.

The leveling mixture is induced by adhering to the manufacturer's algorithm. It is thoroughly mixed with a special drill with a nozzle. Stirring, the solution is aged for 10-15 minutes to give it a more uniform composition, then again interfere.

The prepared solution is poured onto the reinforced surface. A special rubber roller, equipped with spikes, removes the resulting air bubbles. Next, armed with a rubber mop, rule or trowel equal the filling floor in one plane.

Drying the surface is carried out, clearly focusing on the recommendations of the manufacturer of the leveling mixture.

Applying this method, it should be taken into account that the mixture for leveling is characterized by such parameter as the minimum permissible thickness of the layer. It is taken into account by calculating the amount of raising the floor level. Convenient use of such formulations repeatedly covers such a conventional flaw.

Putty with PVA-base

This method is quite popular at the moment. Putty allows to level the territory of premises that have a large area. And the cost of material includes such works as economically attractive.

Alignment with putty with PVA-base

Alignment of the liquid mixture is made by a needle roller.

Screed with a mix of PVA and wood sawdust is stacked in the following order. In advance, the cleaned floor is set with beacons according to the level.

Interstitial spaces are filled with a filling mix of PVA with sawdust, resembling sour cream in thickness. To exclude the rapid stretching of moisture by sawdust from PVA, they are moistened beforehand and squeezed a little, getting rid of excess water.

When a significant thickness of putty is needed, the material is applied in 2-3 layers, each layer 1-2 cm. The next layer is applied after the drying and shrinkage of the previous layer.

The produced surface is controlled by a level. Where required, additives of filler fillings are reported.

The main disadvantage of this option is a large time cost for drying PVA, an insufficient quality class for the subsequent finishing of the finish.

However, this approach for leveling is advisable when there is a need for material savings for construction, and in the future a thin and less expensive plywood will be used.

Application of plywood

With this method, with the observance of all the recommendations for the quality of work, a perfectly flat rough surface is obtained, which allows to assemble absolutely any finishing material.

Most of all, this approach of equalization justifies itself when the boards are leveled for laying the laminate. For this, the plywood is purchased with a 4/4 grade FC and more (not less than 12 mm thick). But if the floor is sufficiently leveled, enough leaves 8-10 mm.

They are pierced by such a sequence. The procedure begins with the installation of lighthouses. As such, self-tapping screws are used that are screwed to the required height throughout the floor. The installation of beacons is carried out at the corners of squares having sides of 20-30 cm.

Taking a screwdriver and a level, put the beacons on the required height. Then the lag is made, which are plywood strips with a width of 30-35 mm. On the floor, lags are attached using glue (PVA-moment, carpenter, etc. for wood) or self-tapping screws. In interlag spaces, glued plywood bars are laid.

Prepare sheets of plywood under the flooring on wooden boards. For this purpose, plywood sheets are cut in the form of squares with facets of the order of 60 cm. Such squares are usually created when sawing a sheet of standard plywood with a size of 125x125 cm per quarter.

After cutting, carefully examine the edges of the blanks for bundle, which is often invisible to the naked eye on entire plywood sheets.

Floor leveling with plywood

Leveling of the floor with plywood is carried out before flooring of the finishing floor, for example, parquet or laminate.

Finding a stratification on a sheet, it is changed to another. Laying of plywood billets on the formed mesh is carried out in such a way that the boundaries of their joints are above the lag.

The laying is done with a displacement like a brick masonry, so that the intersection of the 4 joints does not form at the point.

Then the plywood is cut in exactly the size.

Particular attention is paid to the configuration of protrusions, bay windows, arches, etc.

For economical consumption of material, forces and time, the sheets are placed on the floor during cutting. Melom notes the place of docking plywood.

Plywood squares are strengthened with lags using self-tapping screws with a countersunk head, beforehand countersinking the mounting area.

Different coatings

Plywood can be covered with different materials.

If that is linoleum, then the sheets are polished in black. Increased attention is paid to the places of docking squares and attaching to lags. After the grinding is completed, the entire plywood surface is varnished.

When laying a laminate in the future on plywood, a substrate is laid (sheets of cork or polyethylene foam).

When planning a linoleum flooring on a plywood-leveled surface, thin thin fiber plates must be laid. After that they are coated with glue, which will hold the linoleum.

In addition, fiberboard is recommended to be pinned to plywood. Places of joints on fiberboard and linoleum should not be superimposed, so as not to create cracks. Linoleum is placed so that the individual segments are barely noticeable.

Choosing a variant of the flooring, determine the appropriate method of leveling the old plank floor.
