Manufacturers of sanitary equipment produce bathtubs, sinks, sinks, shower cabins. Among such assortment it is always possible to find the hydraulic equipment suitable in form, size, and equipment. Part of the equipment can be done independently, using fairly simple construction materials. For example, a concrete bath with its own hands, which will have a unique shape, can be performed in a short time. In addition, that you can build a bath, from the same material you can build a sink. The walls are its foundation, and the very construction of it requires observance of certain nuances.
The most difficult in creating a bath of concrete is the formation of the bottom and the conduct of thermal insulation.
Work on the construction can be divided into several main stages:
- Preliminary. It includes design, rough calculation of consumables, marking in the room, preparation of tools and purchase of building materials.
- Preparatory. At this stage it is necessary to install the formwork for further work.
- Concreting. With the prepared concrete, concreting the base and walls of the bath is performed.
- Plastering of the walls of the bath.
- Facing activities.
All stages must be performed in a qualitative way, which is guaranteed to ensure a good result and systematic progress of construction. The works do not require special skills, but care must be taken because the space of the construction site is limited.
Materials and Tools
Each stage of work requires the availability of certain materials and tools:

Calculate the number of all necessary materials in advance is quite difficult, especially ceramic tiles. Therefore, to start work, you can buy a minimum, which will allow you to work for a while. Betonate the bath preferably in one step to prevent the presence of stitches. This will ensure that the flow of the bath is avoided.
Installation of formwork
To determine the size, shape and location of the future bath, you must complete its drawing. It must be done on a scale to determine how convenient it will be to operate the bathroom by everyone living. Next, you need to calculate the amount of concrete and sand that may be needed to produce the work.
Before starting work on the construction of the formwork, it is necessary to remove all old equipment, if any, in particular a bath. According to the drawings, markings are made on the floor and walls. Further, with the help of boards and wooden shields, it is necessary to make the formwork. The wooden structure is securely knocked down by nails. In this case, the reinforcement can be used as spacers and retaining elements. The boards and shields must be supported in such a way that the whole formwork forms a rigid structure, from which it is impossible to leak the concrete in the future.
If you want to form a figured edge of the bath as a material for its manufacture, you can apply cardboard. It has the required flexibility. To increase its rigidity, it is necessary to carry out supports under it through small distances. This will allow the concrete not to change the shape of the edge under its weight when pouring.
Stages of laying mosaic tiles on a bath.
In order to install the frame for the bowl of the bath, the reinforcing bars are cut into lengths corresponding to its height. This will allow to link all the reinforcement in the metal structure to give the necessary rigidity of the entire bathroom. To distribute the load along the height, the bars of the reinforcement are necessary, which are pre-bent into the hook, mounted into the wall and fastened. Such vertical rods should be somewhat in the corners. They should be placed evenly along the perimeter of the future concrete bath. Several vertical racks, which are installed along the perimeter, should look at the bathtub with their hooks. This is necessary so that when mounting the reinforcement belt, the bottoms of the bathtub can all be linked together into a single metal frame.
After the whole frame is tied with wire, it is necessary to lay plastic pipes inside it, which will serve as necessary technological holes. Their length may be somewhat larger than the thickness of the formwork, since at the end of concreting the surplus can be cut with a saw or a jig saw. The holes of the pipes can be covered with scotch tape or film, which will protect them from getting debris.
Before concreting, you should carefully inspect everything and make sure of the rigidity and strength of the entire structure, the reliability of fasteners and joints.
Execution of walls and bottom
Concrete is made from sand, cement and water. It should be ensured that the sand does not contain excess impurities and is fine. This will give concrete the necessary structure, which will fill the whole space. In order to get concrete, it is necessary to mix sand and cement in a proportion of 3: 1. Water should be added as much as it takes to get a slightly thicker sour cream. For a uniform mixing of the components, as well as to accelerate the concreting procedure, it is possible to use a concrete mixer.
You can choose a small size, so that it is fairly freely placed on the construction site inside the apartment. If such an aggregate is not available, then you can use the trough and interfere with the solution manually with a shovel.
The mortar is placed in the formwork, gradually filling it.
Tools for bath installation.
In this case, it is necessary to compact the concrete several times so that it fills the entire space without voids. After 1 row of solution is laid along the entire perimeter of the bath, a layer of reinforcement is laid. The horizontal bars of the metal belt must rest against the vertical pins that were mounted earlier. In this case, it is possible to tie the horizontal rods to reinforcement bars or, with the help of folded hooks, to make a hook between them.
Then put another 1 layer of concrete on the entire surface of the bath. After the 2 layer of concrete is 20-30 cm from 1 reinforcing layer, it is necessary to lay a number of metal rods. Their fastening is similar to the previous row. Further concreting continues in the same mode until the work is completed.
After the concrete has solidified so much that it is possible to remove the struts and formwork, it is possible to proceed to the next stage of performing concrete works, that is, pouring the bottom of the bath. The reinforcement for the bottom must be screwed to the protruding parts of the rods from the walls of the bath, which were left earlier when mounting the wall formwork. A siphon is installed, which is immediately connected to the sewage system and covered from getting debris. In addition, make a stroba in the wall in which the pipe is laid and joins the sewage system. It will serve as a water restrictor.
Further, the concrete is prepared in the same proportion as for the walls of the bath. The reinforcement or small stones are laid all over the concrete every 5-10 cm. The work continues until the whole bottom is completed.

It should be started only after the concrete has solidified completely. At this stage, we have to round the corners, align all the planes along the vertical and horizontal lines.
In order to achieve an ideal rounding of the entire surface of the bath along a given arc, it is necessary to make a template. It can be made from plywood, on which the desired contour is applied and cut out with a jig saw. Further, after the plaster solution is applied, with this template all the surfaces can be leveled.
As a solution for leveling, you can take the crushed foam and glue for laying the outer tiles. This composition has sufficient elasticity, and also serves as an additional heat-conducting layer.
The same solution can be used not only to form a figured bottom and round off corners between the walls and the bottom, but also to level the composition over the entire surface of the bath. Further work can be done only after it has solidified.
As a finishing material, ceramic mosaic can be used, which is laid on a special water-resistant adhesive. Its alternative can be small sea stones, which can be glued to the same adhesive composition.
Grout, if required, is carried out by special compounds that are selected in the tone of the tile or contrast with it.
The sink in the bathroom can be made using the same technology and with the same building materials and tools.
