For any repairs it is necessary to purchase materials, having previously calculated their required quantity. Facing the walls, the floor, the bathroom - this is no exception. The right amount of tiles for a bathroom will save both time, nerves, and money. Not enough material - you have to spend several hours wasted: go, buy. There will be building materials, then it will be a pity to spend money. Therefore, the calculation of material is important, qualitative and accurate.

The scheme for calculating the number of tiles.

You need to decide what color scheme will prevail in the bathroom, how the tile will fit, whether the pattern will fit, whether the decor and borders are appropriate.

## Counting rules

The choice of the way in which the tile will fit is important because of the difference in the amount of material consumed.

Tiles in the bathroom are often laid in a standard way, involving the laying of the edges of the plate directly along the walls. The diagonal method is interesting. It involves the laying of tiles at an inclination of 45 °. It looks good tile, laid in a diagonally-chess way. This type is characterized by alternating tiles of different shades.

Tile calculation table.

Laying a tile diagonally, it is necessary to cut it to fit the tile to the corners, so its consumption rises. When adjusting the pattern, you will also have to slightly cut the tiled surface around the edges, so you must remember to include this moment in the calculation. To the walls do not look uneven, you must put the starting row away from them. This must also be taken into account when calculating the amount of material.

For counting, there are several rules that apply to the lining of any type of room:

- Measure the length of each wall (including the one where the installation of the bath is planned or it is already standing), floors, doors, as well as their height and width.
- Are defined with a tile, its sizes.
- Calculate the preliminary result in squares, specifying it by counting the slabs in pieces.
- Increase the calculated result by approximately 10% due to possible damage to the tile (or with a margin for the undercut).

Today, there are many programs for calculating the consumption of tiles, but they often do not take into account the unevenness of the premises, the distance between the tiled surfaces, so they allow inaccuracies. **It is better to count the number of tiles manually.**

## Styling Examples

Calculation of ceramic tiles in the bathroom from the ceiling to the floor.

We measure the width and length in centimeters. For example, the width is 160, the length is 180, and the standard size of one tile is 30x30. We will stack it as a standard. First 160 (width) is divided on the side of the tile, that is, by 30, as a result, we obtain 5.33 tiles of one row in width (rounding off 5 whole pieces).

Then we count the number of rows that need to be put in the bath length: 180 divide by 30, we get 6 rows. Now 6 tiles are multiplied by 5 tiles width and we get 30 tiles, add a few pieces for unforeseen expenses and go buy 32 pieces.

If they were not counted as pieces, but based on the total area, they would receive approximately the same calculation. It would look like this (in meters): 1.8 x 1.6 = 2.88 (total area). The total area of the bath (2.88 m) is divided by the area of the tile (0.3 x 0.3 = 0.09), we obtain (2.88: 0.09) the same 32 tiles.

Nevertheless, it is better to count by pieces, because the calculation of the area may fail because of the unaccounted amount of ceramic tiles cut at the edges.

To make the calculation of the necessary material for the bathroom walls, calculate the number of tiles separately for each (initial data in centimeters):

- height - 260;
- 160 - the first width, 180 - the second;
- 20x30 - dimensions of the tiled surface;
- 200 - the height of the door, 60 - its width.

The process of laying the tiles on the wall.

We calculate the number of tiles of one row of height: 260: 30 = 8.66 (in rounding 9). Count the number of width tiles: 160: 20 = 8. Now calculate the number of elements per bathroom wall: multiply the number of tiles in height by their number in width, get 72 pieces (8x9). That is, on a wall that has a width of 160 cm, you need to buy 72 pieces. Similarly, consider the number of tiles for a surface with a width of 180 cm. It turns out 81 surfaces.

Now calculate how many tiles to buy on the wall in which the door is located. The door height is divided into a larger value for the dimensions of the product (200: 30 cm), resulting in 6.66 (rounded to 7). The width of the door (60) is divided by the height of the tiled surface, we obtain the private - 3; multiply 7 and 3, we get 21 pieces. This figure is subtracted from the total amount needed for the wall with the door, that is, "minus" the doorway. The result: 72-21 = 51. That is, 51 tiles are needed for the wall behind the minus door.

You can also calculate the necessary material for the wall where you plan to install a bath. If you do not plan to cover this wall with tiles completely, then the calculation is done minus the place where it will stand.

## Trowelling volume

When the stowage works are completed, you need to wipe the seams. The color of the grout can coincide with the tile, and can contrast with it. To calculate, you need to know the volume that will be filled. Professionals recommend making joints up to 3 mm wide. Seam depth is taken into account with the use of a coefficient to the value of the plate thickness. The coefficient is 1.5. It is needed to account for possible shrinkage.

Calculating the mass of grouting, you need to divide 1/2 of the perimeter of the tiled surface by the area, and then find the product of the resulting number and the thickness value. The resultant number is multiplied with the value of the width of the seam and the indicated coefficient. You should get a lot of grout, which is enough for 1 square.

Make calculations is not difficult, so do not risk your time, money and go for the materials without preliminary calculations.
