Installation of water pipes and sewerage in the bathroom

Today, repair of pipelines has become extremely simple. This is due to the appearance of materials that allow the installation of pipes without much difficulty. Now in most cases there is no need to invite a welder. The ease of assembly of pipelines makes it possible for any redevelopment in the bathroom and urgent replacement of pipes without the tedious waiting of plumbers.

Pipes under the lining

Replacement of the pipeline

Installation of a water pipe in a bathroom is conducted by polypropylene pipes, and the sewerage line to a riser is updated with the help of plastic collectors. You can hide the pipelines under the lining (Figure 1), which will improve the appearance of the room. Finishing will protect the pipes from damage, since the plastic is not steel. In Fig. 2 shows how to hide under the protective screen sewer and water pipes, which for one reason or another remain outside.

Materials and Tools

So, for installation in a bathroom of a waterpipe it will be necessary:

Scheme of the box for pipes

Figure 2. Diagram of the box for pipes.

  • reinforced glass-fiber multilayer PP pipes for hot water;
  • single-layer PP pipes for cold water;
  • fittings for their installation (tees, corners, adapters, etc.);
  • shut-off valves (valves, cranes);
  • soldering iron for welding polypropylene;
  • sealing materials for threaded connections;
  • clips with dowel-nails for fixing pipes to the wall.

Choosing reinforced pipes for hot water is necessary for a single reason - their small coefficient of thermal expansion. Pipes PP without reinforcing layer in this indicator is worse by several times. It's impossible to get confused in pipe stamps, but to insure yourself, you can buy a reinforced pipe on both hot and cold water conduit.

As for the installation of the sewage pipeline, it does not need any special tools, except:

  • hacksaws for metal;
  • file or sandpaper.

By the way, special scissors are used for cutting polypropylene blanks, which are included in the set of welding units for polypropylene. Use them best because scissors perform an accurate perpendicular cut.

Disassembly

Heating time table for PP pipes

Figure 3. Table of heating time of PP pipes.

First you will need to determine the length of the pipes that will be installed in your bathroom. Consider the configuration of the pipelines in order to calculate the number of fittings. Having prepared the necessary materials with some reserve, you can start dismantling the old water conduits.

If you have the opportunity to make shtroby for the pipeline before disassembling the old pipes, carry out this procedure in advance. Otherwise, the walls will have to be chipped after dismantling. Well, if the central risers of hot and cold water supply are disconnected, then you can upgrade the shut-off valves, and without disconnecting the risers you will have to disassemble the line only after closing the valves or cranes.

It is easiest to disassemble the water pipe with a grinder, however, try to drain water from it before cutting. Sewerage is also cut by a grinder, but the spigot of the riser should remain intact. Nevertheless, its internal cavity should be thoroughly cleaned and temporarily wiped with rags.

Device

If you cut polypropylene into the necessary fragments, you can start assembling the pipeline. The soldering iron for its installation is arranged in such a way that both the fitting and the pipe are heated at the same time. Welding is carried out at a temperature of 260 ° C. The heating time of PP pipes depends on their diameter (Figure 3).

If the blanks are overheated, adhesions in their cavities may be formed.

Sequence of installation of fittings

Figure 4. Sequence of installation of fittings.

After reheating, the tube is inserted into the fitting and fixed in it for 10-15 seconds. If everything is done correctly, a sealed one-piece connection is obtained (Figure 4). Similarly, you can collect large sections of the water pipe. The main thing in this process is not to get carried away and complicate the subsequent installation, otherwise you will have to cut the conduit into fragments, which threatens to over-spend not such cheap materials.

In strobas, water supply lines will be sealed with a solution, but this can only be done after testing the finished water pipe for operability. And on the other sections of the wall in the bathroom, the installation is done after installing the clips every ½ m. After screwing the threaded adapters and installing the fittings, fix the pipelines on the wall.

Installation of sewer pipes in the bathroom is made even easier, but it should be borne in mind that the slope of sewerage should fluctuate within 2-5 cm per meter of its length. To assemble the sewer from several elements, lubricate the parts of the pipes that will enter the sockets with a soap solution. Connections are sealed with rubber rings, which are sold complete with pipes. If necessary, shorten any of the fragments using a hacksaw for metal. Cut plastic piping should be strictly perpendicular. After sawing, you need to remove all the burrs from the edges and check the inner surface of the pipes for smoothness. If necessary, use fine sandpaper. Connect the sewer to the riser and to the drainage tank.

Now you can check the quality of the work done. Reinstall the fittings at the outlet of the hot and cold water lines open. Slightly open the taps at the risers, and when the water lines are full, close the taps at the bath. Check all joints and screw connections. If there are no drops, drips, fogging, then everything is done right.
