Leveling the roughing floor with tile adhesive

There are situations when the rough floor performed on lighthouses does not meet expectations. This may be the result of poor quality of the screed mixture or the addition of water in excess of the norm. Due to shrinkage, the zone between the beacons turns out to be lower than the areas adjacent to them. A non-ideal installation of the lighthouses can make their own contribution.

Leveling the floor with tile adhesive

When there is no possibility to lay the screed, the floor is leveled with tile adhesive.

If you do not want to pick up the floor even higher, the leveling of the floor with tile glue can help. This option is less expensive. Many will prefer to solve the problem using self-leveling mixtures. But this is not always justified. Self-levelers do not provide for application by a layer that descends along a zero thickness.

The technology of leveling the floor with glue depends on the type of finish coating. Aligning the floor under the tile, it is more effective to put the tile on the existing terrain and fill all the irregularities with tile glue. When you need to level the floor with a poor-quality screed under the laminate and other similar types of coating, the glue is used just for leveling.

Tools and materials

Align the floor for laying the finishing coat with tile adhesive using the following set of tools:

Tools for laying tiles and leveling floors

Tools for laying tiles and leveling the floor: spatula, mixer, hammer, crosses, tile cutting, tile adhesive.

  • putty knife;
  • shovel;
  • broom;
  • a vacuum cleaner;
  • roller;
  • drill with a mixer;
  • Master OK;
  • capacity;
  • rule;

  • a Bulgarian with a circle around the stone;
  • bubble level;
  • laser level;
  • cord;

When it comes to fixing the floor with tile glue, and not about aligning it in the process of laying the tiles, some positions will disappear. The same goes for the list of materials:

  • penetrating primer;
  • adhesive for tiles;
  • floor tile;
  • zatirka.

Preparatory work

Elimination of roughness of the rough floor begins with its cleaning and dedusting. All excess strands on the screed are cleaned with a spatula. Particular attention should be paid to clearing traces of lighthouses. They must re-fulfill their function. The quality of cleaning can be controlled by conducting a rule by adjacent beacons. It should not touch anything.

Floor leveling for tiles

To level the floor under the tile, the adhesive is applied in a thick layer.

Cleaning will be relatively simple, if you start it the next day after the hardening of the screed. When the rough floor has time to gain strength, it becomes more difficult to rule it.

After sweeping the substrate, it is advisable to vacuum it. So you can carefully prepare the roughing floor to apply glue and improve adhesion. After cleaning, the substrate is primed with a roller. You need to be prepared for a large flow of this material. The screed very well absorbs the primer. The next day you can directly fix the floor.

Preparation of glue is made with the help of a construction mixer in batches, which can be worked out within 40-60 minutes, depending on the characteristics of the glue mixture used. A 20-liter bucket of paint or putty is suitable for this. It is important to follow the dosage exactly from the instructions. The introduction of excess water makes the frozen solution brittle, and its lack will not allow the mixture to spread over the surface.

The main volume

Masterkom or deep pits directly from the bucket of glue is placed between the traces of lighthouses and stretches them by rule. In this case, the layer of the mixture directly near the lighthouses should tend to zero, and in the middle of the span it depends on the relief and can reach 20-25 mm.

In places where the deflections of the lighthouses are seen, the elimination of inaccuracies is performed by the second pass after the first one solidifies.

For the second pass, the rule rotates along the lighthouses. In this approach, the hardened surface of already aligned adjoining areas begins to play the role of the template.

Aligning tiles

After laying the tiles on the glue, it is leveled.

Tile glue is not prone to shrinkage. The surface roughness depends on the quality of the substrate preparation. Any projections not seen during cleaning form a wave. The remaining dust may cause the correcting layer to peel off.

With high-quality work on a horizontal surface, you can lay any finish coating from linoleum to laminate. Ceramic and porcelain tiles are also much easier to lay on a flat surface. But professionals often prefer to combine the leveling of the floor with glue for tiles with the laying of the coating itself.

To do this, find the lowest and highest points of the rough surface. This is most conveniently done using a laser level. In small rooms, you can do with the bubble level in combination with the rule.

Preliminary laying of the tile is made taking into account the aesthetics of the cut. The implementation of the standard rules for placing tiles on the floor means the following:

  1. You can not leave a narrow cut along the walls.
  2. At the entrance or along the least obstructed wall is left whole or close to this tile.
  3. Along the base wall adjacent to the base lies a wide cut, and not a whole row.

Between the maximum and minimum marks, a beacon is placed. Laying starts from the point where the adhesive layer is maximized. For correct positioning along the edge of the first tile along the base wall, the direction-determining cord is pre-tensioned. For some, it is more convenient to use a fixed rule instead of a cord.

On the surface of the tile, the glue is applied with an excess. It gently presses down to the touch of the beacon with the control of the horizontal surface in two mutually perpendicular directions by the bubble level. The rest fit this, as from the master.

Gaps in the standard way are exposed by crosses and wedges, and then rubbed with a rubber spatula and cut by a piece of wire. After washing the grout, a smooth, ready-to-use surface is obtained.
