In order to calculate the required volume of ceramic tiles for the bathroom, you do not need to have special knowledge and skills. Now there are many specialized programs that will do this for you. In addition, many specialty shops provide a similar service.
To know exactly how many tiles are required for laying, it is necessary to calculate it.
But this method of planning is not always convenient and accurate. As a rule, programs place too much extra percentage of consumable material. This does not take into account the type of tiling you selected and the features of the room. Therefore, the necessary number of tiles is more reasonable to determine independently.
Stages of calculation
In order to calculate the ceramic tiles for the bathroom was accurate, you first need to determine the following parameters:
- Type of tiling.
- The color range of the future panel.
- Need to dock the picture.
- So, whether there will be only ceramics or other materials in the finish, too.
Layout of tiling.
The consumption of tiles for the bathroom largely depends on the type of its installation. At the moment, most commonly used in 3 main ways:
- seam in the seam (horizontal, standard);
- vzrazbezhku (each subsequent row is shifted relative to the previous);
- diagonal (the plates are laid at an angle of 45° relative to each other).
Typically, the type of laying of plates depends not only on the planned design, but also on the premises themselves, as well as on the type of surface. Toilet and walls in it are usually decorated in a diagonal way, as this room is often small in size. The bathroom provides more space for imagination. Here, the required amount of consumables will depend on the planned appearance of the room.
In order to calculate the number of tiles correctly, you need to remember the nuances that increase the consumption of tiles. These include:
- Diagonal styling.
- Formation of a single panel with a complex drawing.
- Design of architectural features of the bathroom (for example, protruding corners, niches, technical boxes, etc.).
- Combination of several types of tiles.
All this leads to the need for docking ceramic tiles and for pruning individual dies. Accordingly, the volume of the consumable material inevitably increases.
General calculation плитки.
The calculation is usually done without complicated formulas. But there is a general scheme for determining the required amount of material in the bathroom. The preliminary counting step starts with the following measurements:
- Definitions of the overall dimensions of the room (measuring the height and length of the walls, as well as the length and width of the floor surface).
- The calculation of the surface area of the bathroom, intended for tiling.
- Definitions of overall dimensions of 1 ceramic plate.
The number of tiles required depends on the size of the tile.
You need to determine in advance the dimensions of the tile you are going to use in the toilet or bathroom. Draw an approximate layout on the floor, taking into account the desired dimensions. After that, you can determine the number of ceramic plates, which will be needed for finishing 1 m2 premises.
Further from the total area of all surfaces of the bathroom, you need to subtract the dimensions of the doorways and windows (if any). If you do not want to trim the walls behind the overall furniture and appliances, such as a boiler and a washing machine, then this must also be taken into account. Now the required number of tiles can be counted individually. But it is worth considering that in some stores tiles are sold in packages of 10-15 pcs.
Example for a bathroom
Ways of laying ceramic tiles.
The calculation of ceramic tiles should include the percentage that is pawned for additional work. It is more reasonable to purchase material that may be needed later. For example, in the cosmetic repair of the bathroom. At the same time, the volume of consumable ceramic tiles increases by about 10-12%.
When counting tiles in the bathroom, one by one take into account the full rows. That is, if at the end of the series it is planned to prune the elements, then consider this plate as a whole. With this approach, the total amount of consumable material increases, but the risk of error decreases.
For clarity, we will conduct a hypothetical calculation of the tiles. Suppose there is a room of 2.1 m in length and 1.7 m in width. For floor finishing we use 40 * 40 cm dies. First we need to determine the number of elements in 1 row. For this, the length of the room must be divided by the length of 1 die:
210 cm (floor length) / 40 cm (length of 1 die) = 5.25 pcs.
Now we need to determine the number of rows in width:
170 cm (floor width) / 40 cm (width of 1 element) = 4.25 pcs.
The data obtained should be rounded up and counted as the final volume of the material:
6 (number of dice in 1 row) * 5 (number of rows) + 10% (required stock) = 34 pcs.
This is how a simple tile calculation is obtained, in which doorways and other features are not taken into account.
