The device of a water-heated floor under the tile is used to heat the room in the winter and to level the unpleasant feeling of cold from the tiles in the summer. For heating the floor with water, a set of pipelines is used, inside of which water circulates, which has the temperature necessary for comfort. The basic organ for controlling the heating mode is a collector unit in the form of a cabinet including all pipe connections, a mixer and adjusting devices.

Choice of pipelines

For a warm floor it is not recommended to use a heating system in an apartment building. After the connection, the hydraulic resistance of the water system at home will increase. Adding such a consumer can unbalance the distribution of heat between the apartments, which will cause the neighbors to complain. It is better to have an independent heating unit. The material for pipes is well served by polypropylene or plastic. Each of them has its own advantages. Polypropylene is neutral with respect to alkalis. If it is planned to use antifreeze as a coolant, then polypropylene will withstand such an aggressive environment. It has good tensile strength and therefore withstands high pressure. High elasticity allows you to apply a variety of styling options. If the fast heating of the room is required as a priority, then metal-plastic pipes should be used.

Before starting to lay, remove all objects from the room, clean the floor of debris and vacuum. Then, along the whole perimetre, the damper strip is made of foamed polyethylene. The tape is mounted in the mating of the wall with the floor with a bend to the floor surface. The height of the tape should be slightly higher than the intended finish surface of the floor. Surplus in height is cut off after completion of work. If you do not lay the tape, then the floor screed can expand, rest against the wall and, as a result, collapse from deformation. When the screed is destroyed, the tiles will be damaged. For protection from dampness from below, the floor surface is covered with a polyethylene film.

Then the screed is laid and leveled horizontally. If you allow the differences, then the heating of the warm floor under the tile will be uneven. Each stage of checking for horizontality requires careful attention. A heat insulator is laid on the leveled and completely dried screed. A good material for it will serve as polystyrene in the form of plates. There are expanded polystyrene plates, specially designed for laying the warm floor. They are interconnected by locks of a convenient configuration.

The upper plane of them is made in the form of a set of hemispherical projections, similar to bubbles on the water during the rain. Between these protrusions it is convenient to lay a flexible water tube of the warm floor. Pipes can also be laid on a special reinforcing mesh. To the grid fastening is done with the help of plastic clips.

The next stage of work will be the installation of a manifold. The collector is a branch pipe from which the contours of the water warm floor line under the tile. It is installed on the wall in the place most convenient for connecting the pipelines laid on the floor. The cabinet can be deepened into the wall, if the wall is not bearing. There are also devices for temperature control, a cock for venting the system and temperature sensors. The stacked pipe is connected to the outlet from the collector. Pipe laying is done in a serpentine or rectangular spiral. A double rectangular spiral is better than other circuits to ensure a smooth flow of heat over the floor surface. According to this scheme, the pipe is laid along a rectangular perimeter in the form of a spiral, gradually approaching the center of the room. Further, the trajectory passes from the center to the periphery parallel to the first half of the tube. The second end of the pipe is connected to the return pipe in the manifold.

After connection, the pipes of the warm floor are filled with water and checked for leakage. The check is carried out under working pressure during the day. The pressure should be controlled by a manometer. If there is no pressure reduction within a day, then the system is ready for operation. Next, the whole system is covered with cement mortar, while maintaining the working pressure in the pipelines.

It is advisable to use concrete grade not lower than M-300.

After the complete formation of concrete, tile is laid from the tile. To ensure that the tiles do not exfoliate and crack, an adhesive is used that includes an epoxy resin or a plasticizer.
