11 things

The dishwasher (PMM) is good because, firstly, it saves time and effort, secondly, it ideally launhes and dries utensils at the expense of high temperatures, and thirdly, saves water.

  • For one cycle of its work, water is consumed 4-5 times less than when washing dishes by hand, power consumption is small (in the economy mode only 8 kW for 1 sink - even an electric kettle consumes more!).

In addition, you can wash dishes in the dishwasher, as well as combs, plastic children's toys, baseball caps, rubber sneakers, tools, exhaust filter, refrigerator trays and much more.

The minuses of PMM can be called only a few inconveniences:

  • The need to buy consumables (tablets, salt, rinse).
  • The machine takes up space in the kitchen.
  • Buying a car is very costly (the price varies from 14 to 50 tr).
  • Unfortunately, the dishwasher can not load-unload itself and clean the plates from the scraps (otherwise there is a risk of clogging). Sometimes the dishes are really easier and quicker to wash yourself.
  • Most often, the dishwasher is started 1-2 times a day, and before that, dirty dishes are stored in it. If the accumulation process is delayed, the camera of the machine starts to "smell". If you save up the utensils in the sink, then it becomes inconvenient to use it, and the appearance of the dirty warehouse spoils all coziness.
  • Adhering food and carbon deposits can not be washed without preliminary or subsequent manual cleaning, say, a scraper. With the rest of the dirt (even with age-old grease) the dishwasher manages for one cycle.
  • Unfortunately, not everything can be automated. For example, cast iron and steel rusting utensils after PMM are covered with rust, wood - breaks, and crystal can eventually become clouded.

You can choose the right dishwasher for your home.

Determine the type of PMM and installation location

According to the type of installation, dishwashers are divided into three types:

  • Built-in - the machine is fully installed in the headset, the front panel is hung with a facade, the control panel is located on the end of the door. This method of installing PMM is the most preferable, since it allows not to violate the uniformity of kitchen surfaces. If you plan to install the headset from scratch, then choose this option.
Built-in PMM control panel

The control panel for the embedded models is located on the end of the door

  • Stationary / partly built-in - this machine can be built into the suite in part, that is without a facade or put it separately where it is convenient. The color of the door of the stationary PMM is usually white, metallic, sometimes black. Even stationary models have one advantage - they are somewhat more convenient to use by placing the control panel on the door. Thus, to start the already loaded machine it does not need to be opened, the timer shows the time of the day and the countdown of the minutes until the end of the cycle. In which case is it worth choosing a partially embedded model? In case the set is already equipped, if you plan to do a rearrangement in the future, or when you simply do not want to bother with the installation of the facade and choose a machine strictly to the size of the kitchen.

Partially built PMM

To partially integrate the dishwasher under the countertop, just remove the top cover and adjust the legs

  • Portable (desktop) - if the full-sized car is not put anywhere, a portable mini dishwasher, comparable in size to the microwave, will help out. It connects to the faucet and is placed on the countertop. The capacity of such a baby is 4-6 sets of dishes. For a family of three people or, say, a bachelor, this is quite enough.
Desktop PMM

Unfortunately, compact models cost almost as much as narrow and full-sized

The capacity of the dishwasher should be 2-3 times the required minimum

Capacity is the most important criterion for choosing a dishwasher. It shows which maximum number of sets of dishes can wash this or that model in one cycle.

  • In 1 set of dishes include: two plates (deep and flat), a cup with a saucer and a fork with a spoon.

Utensils in PMM

Dishwashers can accommodate from 4 to 17 sets.

  • Small portable dishwashers with a height of up to 50 cm contain only 4-6 sets of dishes.
  • Narrow dishwashers with a width of 45 cm contain 10-11 sets of dishes.
  • Full-size models will be able to wash from 11 to 17 sets of dishes.

Since the dishwasher is most convenient to start once a day, it turns out that it should contain all the dishes, accumulated for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks of all household members. So, for example, for a family of three people, you should choose a dishwasher for at least 9 sets. It is desirable to add to this minimum reserve for pots and pans.

Pay attention to water and electricity consumption

The less dishwasher water consumes per 1 work cycle, the less you will pay not only for water, but also for electricity. Most modern PMM models spend no more than 14-15 liters per cycle (0.85 kWh / cycle). Obsolete models with water consumption of about 20 liters per cycle are rare.

  • If you want to save even more, look for models with a water consumption of 8-9 liters per cycle (0.62 kWh / cycle). True, these economical dishwashers are more expensive.
  • When choosing a dishwasher, pay attention to the water flow both when working in an economy mode, and in the usual.

A standard set of 5-6 programs is enough. It is desirable that the MMP has a half load function

It is not necessary to chase a large set of temperature and functional programs. As practice shows, most users of the basic set of 5-6 modes of operation are enough:

  • Normal;
  • Intensive;
  • Fast;
  • With pre-soaking;
  • Economical mode for washing lightly soiled dishes;
  • Washing mode for fragile dishes (for example, for glass goblets or expensive porcelain).

Here are some more useful additional functions:

  • The regime of half loading - will allow you to wash not only a small number of dishes, but also launder, say, dirty vegetables for cooking dinner.
  • If you like to make blanks for the winter and cook jam, and if there is a small child in the family, then the sterilization function will not be superfluous.
  • It is very useful to delay the timer. It will allow, for example, to load the car from the evening, and to automatically switch on at night, when everyone is asleep, and water and electricity are cheaper.
  • For families with children, choose a model with a child protection option when the door and / or the control panel of the machine are locked. This is necessary not only so that the baby does not knock down the settings, but also to protect it from hot steam. By the way, not all models have such a function, be careful and specify this important nuance.

For a small kitchen or one-pair users it is worth choosing a narrow dishwasher

Narrow dishwashers can have a width of 30, 35, 40 or 45 cm and can accommodate from 6 to 10 sets of dishes.

Narrow PMM

Which dishwasher should I choose for a small kitchen? Our answer is a narrow and necessarily built-in

  • However, if you can build a full-sized model, you should not abandon it. The main thing is to choose a machine with half load capability.

A grade of washing quality grade A is the norm

Even the simplest modern dishwashers have a washing class of A grade, this means that the machine washes the dishes very well. Do you want the dishes to be washed perfectly? Choose models marked A + (the more pluses, the better and more expensive).

It is advisable to choose a machine with full protection against leaks

The leakage protection system is of two types:

  • The full leakage protection system stops the water supply when there is a minimum surplus or damage to the hoses. If your kitchen has wooden floors (this is typical for "steel" and other old houses) or the floor is lined with wood / laminate, then you should choose the PMM with this protection system.
  • Partial protection against leaks has inexpensive machines. They are arranged so that the water supply stops when the special tray is overfilled.

A quiet dishwasher should have a noise level of up to 45 dB

This advice is especially relevant for the kitchen in the studio apartment, the combined kitchen-living room, as well as in the case if the house has small children or just someone from the household is a bit asleep. Of course, the more quietly the machine works, the more expensive it is.

  • The minimum noise level of the PMM is 38 dB, the maximum is 55 dB.

Turbo-drying is preferable, if in priority the speed of the machine

Almost all modern dishwashers have the function of drying - condensation or turbo type.

  • The simplest models dry the dishes, you can say, in a natural way: washed dishes are first rinsed with hot water, then it simply dries, and the condensate accumulates on the walls of the chamber and finally drains into the drain. This principle of drying is uncomfortable with its duration. While the dishes are drying, the car does not signal the finish.
  • More expensive machines have a fan that blows all the wet dishes over with warm air and dries it pretty quickly.

It is impossible to say unequivocally which dishwasher is better - with condensation or turbo-drying. After all, if you only load the car for the night (as often happens), then there is no big reason to overpay for turbo-drying.

  • If you plan to wash dishes often and not only at the end of the day (for example, if you have to buy a narrow dishwasher and wash the dishes after each meal), then turbo drying will be very handy.

Install the dishwasher yourself

As a rule, the installation is carried out by either the store's master, where the PMM was bought, the furniture salon, where a kitchen or third-party specialists was ordered. And this is correct, especially when it comes to building in. However, if you want to do this yourself, you can use our step-by-step instruction:
